National Paramedic certification (NREMT)
Two years past EMT for about a third more pay. The certifying body publishes how many people hold it, so this is one of the few occupations where the number who trained can be set against the number employed.

Why there is no cost figure here
As with EMT certification, no credible national cost figure exists. Paramedic programmes are run by community colleges, hospitals and fire services at prices they set individually, many students are sponsored by an employer, and federal programme-level data does not separate paramedic training from the wider allied-health code it sits in.
Typically one to two years beyond EMT certification, often as an associate degree, including a substantial supervised field and clinical component.
Certification runs two years, renewed by continuing education.

The number the pay figure leaves out

Both sides are standing counts. Holders on a date against employment in a period — the same kind of quantity, which is the only reason the two may be divided at all.
What that count includes: The unique number of individuals holding a current National Registry certification at Paramedic level, on the date shown. The dashboard updates daily. As with EMT certification, some states license paramedics without requiring it and some holders keep it without working in EMS.

Fire-service paramedics are usually counted as firefighters in federal employment data rather than as paramedics, so a meaningful but unpublished share of the unaccounted-for holders are working in the field under another job title.

Does it pay for itself?
The job this unlocks pays a median of $60,600, წინააღმდეგ დასაქმების-წონასწორებული მედიანას $50,020 across every occupation we publish — a premium of about $10,580 a year before tax. We cannot turn that into a payback period, because no credible figure exists for what this costs to obtain — half of the calculation is real and published, and the other half we do not have.

And it assumes you get the job. Every payback figure on this site is conditional on being hired into the work. That is the assumption the credential-holder count above exists to test, and it is the assumption every other pay site makes silently.
