What we collect, and what we do not

This describes what this site actually runs, not a template. If something here does not match what you observe, that is a bug and we want to hear about it.

If you only read

You can read every published method, figure and source without an account, without a trial and without giving us an email address. We do not require registration to see research derived from public records.

We do record anonymous usage events so we can tell which pages are useful and where people give up. These record the page, the type of event and a timestamp. They do not store your browser user-agent string, and requests identified as crawlers are discarded rather than counted. We do not use third-party advertising trackers or cross-site profiling.

If you create an account

We store your email address, a hashed password (never the password itself), and your account state — plan, credits and billing dates. If you sign in with Google we receive your email address and nothing else; we do not gain access to your Google account.

If you pay us

Payments are processed by Stripe and PayPal. Your card number never reaches our servers and we cannot see it. We store the processor\u2019s reference for your payment, the amount, the status and a token that lets a subscription renew. Those processors have their own privacy policies governing the data you give them directly.

If you contact us

The contact form stores your name, email, subject and message so we can reply. It uses an image challenge to block automated submissions, which sets a short-lived cookie for that purpose only. If you send us earnings evidence, we use it to verify a figure and we do not publish your personal details.

Cookies and storage

• A session cookie, which keeps you signed in and remembers your chosen language.
• A security token cookie that prevents forged form submissions.
• A short-lived cookie used by the contact-form image challenge.

That is the complete list. There are no advertising cookies at present. Should that change, this page changes first and the disclosure page will name the partner.

Your data

You can delete your account from your account page, which removes your profile and personal details. Records we are legally required to retain, such as payment history for tax purposes, are kept for the required period. You can ask us for a copy of what we hold, or ask us to correct it, by contacting us.

What we will never do

Sell your personal data, share your email with advertisers or partners, or publish an individual\u2019s earnings submission in an identifiable form. A site asking people to send proof of their income has to be unambiguous about this.
